Pancreatic adenocarcinoma
In the US, approximately 44,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are expected to be diagnosed in 2012 with an associated 37,000 deaths. Pancreatic cancer accounts for approximately 3% of newly diagnosed cancers and cancer-related deaths. In the US, the incidence and mortality rates of pancreatic cancer have remained approximately the same over the past 20 years. While the increased risk is small, pancreatic cancer is linked to smoking. EGFR is overexpressed in over 50% of pancreatic tumors and is associated with poor prognosis.
